Título : Primary osseous Burkitt lymphoma with nodal and intracardiac metastases in a child Tipo de documento : documento electrónico Autores : Lina Marcela Cadavid Álvarez, ; Mirna Rocío Yabur Espitia, Fecha de publicación : 2017 Títulos uniformes : Radiology Case Reports Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave : Burkitt lymphoma non-Hodgkin metastasis Resumen : Burkitt lymphoma (BL) is the most frequent non-Hodgkin lymphoma in pediatric patients, accounting for approximately 34% of the cases of lymphoma in children. This subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphoma was first described in 1958 as a monoclonal proliferation of B cell lymphocytes. Cardiac involvement of BL in association with osseous compromise and lymphadenopathy is rare and poorly documented. We report a case of femur primary BL in an 8-year-old boy with metastatic cardiac involvement, retroperitoneal and iliofemoral lymphadenopathy, and hepatosplenomegaly. We highlight the diagnostic challenge in a patient with clinical nonspecific findings and systemic disease. Título : General features and epidemiology of lymphoma in Colombia. A multicentric study Tipo de documento : documento electrónico Autores : Marcos Arango Barrientos, ; Juan Felipe Combariza Vallejo, Fecha de publicación : 2015 Títulos uniformes : Annals of Hematology Idioma : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave : Lymphoma hodgkin lymphoma non-Hodgkin lymphoma Colombia Resumen : The relative frequency of the non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) subtypes varies around the world. The objective of this study was to describe the general features of patients with lymphoma in Colombia. A total of 819 patients with a new diagnosis of lymphoma were included. Nighty-nine (12 %) of them had Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) and 720 (88 %) had NHL. Most cases had advanced stage disease at presentation (63.6 %). Diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) was the most frequent diagnosis; it was seen in 40 % of patients with NHL and in 35 % of patients in the whole series. Overall survival rates at 3 years were 77 % for HL and follicular lymphoma, 54 % for DLBCL, and 45 % for T cell lymphomas. In conclusion, the distribution of specific NHL subtypes is similar to what has been reported previously in other tropical countries.
